Longnecks Come Back Late to Clip Red Pandas
|
Despite a great performance by Sioux Falls center fielder Jorge Díaz, the Bloomington Longnecks defeated the Red Pandas by the score of 6-4 at The Bamboo Forest. Díaz was 4-5 with 4 singles. He drove in 2 runs. William Waters picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 4-2. Jim Washington was tagged with the loss. Richard Sykes nailed down his 9th save.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the ninth inning. With two out, Shahid Afridi hit a 2-0 cutter from Jim Washington for a 2-run single. It put Bloomington in front, 6-4.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Afridi told the Bloomington Bulletin.
The Longnecks improved to 35-21.
