Evergreens Win at Capital District, 5-1
|
The Portland Evergreens relied on the hitting of first baseman John Ennis to stop the Capital District Red Knights, 5-1. For the game, Ennis went 2 for 3 with 2 singles, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. Portland reliever Vincente Ortíz picked up the win, upping his record to 2-0. Luis Hernández shouldered the loss. Portland has a mark of 12-6 after the win.
Also having an impact was center fielder Wei-qiang Mo, who stroked a 2-run single in the top of the fifth for Portland. For the game, Mo went 2 for 5 with 2 singles, while adding 2 RBI.
"We'll just keep our nose to the grindstone," Ennis told the Portland Daily.
