Veteran Lawson Hits Three Dingers

D.C. first baseman Neil Lawson sensed he was going to have a good game at the plate, but he underestimated just a little bit. Prior to the game, Lawson predicted he would hit a home run against the Ft. Worth Cattlemen.

During batting practice he told his teammates, "I really got my swing down pat. I feel some thunder in the lumber. I'm gonna get me a home run in this game." He was right. He did hit a home run -- three of them, in fact -- pacing the Divided over the Cattlemen 10-3.

"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," Lawson told reporters after the game.

To go along with the homers, he collected 6 RBIs and scored 3 runs.

Neil Lawson flied out in the 1st, hit a three-run home run off Bartolomeu Lio in the 3rd, hit a solo-shot off Enrique Cortéz in the 4th, hit a two-run home run off Enrique Cortéz in the 6th and doubled in the 8th.

Currently Lawson is batting .243 with 59 hits and 14 home runs. He has knocked in 44 runs and scored 32 times.
