Middies Topple Rainbow Mermaids with Late Rally
The Grafton Middies overcame a good performance by Northern Virginia first baseman Roberto Sánchez to knock off Northern Virginia, 6-5, at Field of the Middies. Sánchez hit 2 home runs. Lynwood Matos earned the save, his 15th, for the Middies. Grafton, now 29-40, holds 9th place in the Silver League.

Late in the game, second baseman Pedro Santos had a big at-bat for Grafton. In the bottom of the eighth, he hit a run-scoring single off Darren Garland. The play gave the Middies a 6-5 lead.

"It's always nice to be on the winning side," Santos told the Grafton Observer. "But we take nothing for granted."
