The Ft. Worth Cattlemen got a sterling performance from right fielder Keith Best, but the Nuggets still prevailed, 5-4. Best was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He was 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Jorge Garza picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-3. Jason Horne was tagged with the loss. The 9th-place Nuggets now have a win-loss record of 27-34.
Martín Méndez was the walk-off hero for Rocky Mountain. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Rocky Mountain pinch hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring double to send the teams home.
"I like the grit of this ballclub," Méndez said.
