Middies Take Down Divided, 4-1
|
In baseball, each game is unique. This one was no different.
The Grafton Middies defeated the D.C. Divided, 4-1, at Washington Stadium. Grafton second baseman Pedro Santos was named player of the game for his superb performance. He was 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, while scoring 2 runs. Grafton reliever Carlos Hernández picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. José Alaniz took the loss. Lynwood Matos closed the game out for Grafton, earning his 12th save.
Grafton took a 2-0 lead on Santos's 10th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which he hit off José Alaniz in the top of the seventh, propelled Grafton to the win.
"I'm proud of the way we took care of business and got the 'W' today," Santos told the Grafton Observer. "Whatever it takes."
The Middies, at 24-27, sit in 7th place in the Silver League.
