Caterpillars Scratch and Claw to 6-4 Win
The Grim Reapers and Grand Forks Caterpillars provided some drama at The Coffin.

Grand Forks right fielder Gary Malone was instrumental in his team's 6-4 win over the Grim Reapers. Malone, who is tied for 4th in the SA in triples with 1, went 2-4 with 1 run scored to lead the offensive attack for the Caterpillars. Grand Forks reliever Georg von Trapp got the win, raising his record to 1-1. Zi-jun Qing was tagged with the loss. Gilberto Blanca closed the game out for Grand Forks, earning his 1st save.

The game turned with no one out in the top of the eighth when Malone, who is tied for 9th in the SA in bases on balls with 8, hit a 3-run home run. It propelled the Caterpillars into the lead, 6-3.

"We had the game right there for the taking," said Grim manager Dale Wolfe. "But we decided not to take it."

The win pushes Grand Forks to a record of 8-9.
