The Tula faced a stiff challenge from Grand Forks pitcher Mick Alston, but persevered to claim a win at The Cocoon. The final score was 4-1. Alston went 6 innings and allowed 1 earned run. Iwane Chihara was the winner. Over 7.1 innings, he allowed 1 run on 7 hits, with 3 walks and 3 strikeouts. Anthony Ledesma recorded the save for Chicago, his 2nd of the season.
Jim Unknown contributed an important at-bat in the top of the eighth. With the bases loaded, he hit a 2-run single. It was one at-bat that helped send Chicago to the win.
"Some of the guys in here work pretty hard, some of the guys just kind of fall out of bed and get it done. Whatever works I guess, we won this one," Unknown told the Chicago Times.
The Caterpillars drop to 7-7 and continue their inconsistent start to the 2027 season.
