Guzzlers Take Tight Tilt
|
Galesburg Guzzlers starter Bob Mullinax was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Hammond Herons, 4-1. Mullinax went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 7 hits, walked 3, and struck out 11. His record improves to 5-6. With the win over Hammond, the Guzzlers improved to 46-34.
Tied up with the Herons in the bottom of the fourth, the Guzzlers got a boost from second baseman José Díaz. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Díaz saw a 1-2 circle change from Ernest Hawks and hit a 3-run home run to break the stalemate and put Galesburg on top, 3-0.
Mullinax said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
