Rúbio Delivers Clutch At-Bat for Louisiana in Walk-Off Win
|
The Louisiana Dragoons and Provo Mango played a tight game at Dragoons War Memorial Stadium, with the hosts claiming the hard-fought win.
The Provo Mango got a sterling performance from pitcher Kostas Antetokounmpo, but the Dragoons still prevailed, 3-2. Antetokounmpo was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 8 innings of 2-hit ball. The winner was Louisiana reliever Cornelius Bigelow, now 4-2. The loser was Edmund Blackadder.
Héctor Rúbio was the walk-off hero for Louisiana. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth, the Louisiana designated hitter hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"The beers will taste better tonight after this win," said the ever-candid Rúbio.
Their 33-41 record puts the Dragoons 9th in the Menard's A.
