Misfits Get One-Run Win at Asheville
|
The Salem Misfits knocked off the Asheville Highlanders, 7-4, at Asheville Park. Jorge García, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Salem won. The designated hitter was 4-5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk. The Misfits saw their win-loss record go to 41-52. At the same time, the Highlanders fall to 36-57.
Salem took control in the top of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, Austin Hathaway hit a 2-run single to make it 6-4, Misfits.
García told the Salem Bulletin: "This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents. Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
