Loss to Farmers Extends Asheville Losing Streak
|
The Lancaster Farmers beat the Asheville Highlanders, 8-5, at Farmers Field. Lancaster second baseman Zelmar Barajas earned player of the game honors with an outstanding performance. He went 2 for 3 with a double and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Gerry Fleck was the winning pitcher. Over 7 innings, he allowed 4 runs on 7 hits, with 5 walks and 3 strikeouts. The Asheville losing streak has now reached 6 games.
Luis Freitas, who is tied for 4th in the PAA with a .320 batting average, aided the Lancaster cause with a run-scoring walk in the bottom of the third. For the game, the center fielder drew 1 walk.
