The Highlanders grabbed a 6-0 win at Mercer Island Grounds, overcoming a fine effort from Mercer Island pitcher Raúl Pérez. Pérez went 8 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. Even with the win, the Asheville Highlanders have a dismal 7-17 record.
Javier Luna's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With no one out, he rapped a fastball from Riley Herrick for a 2-run triple. It put Asheville in front, 2-0.
"Nice to get this one," said Luna. "Wins have been hard to come by."
