Vermont Lake Monsters starter Stewart Fleming pitched a strong game against the Milton Dogfish Head at Milton Corner Tavern, leading the Lake Monsters to a 5-2 win. Fleming, now 5-3, was the winner. In 6.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. Hwen-thiang Qin earned the save for Vermont, his 11th of the year.
Luis Rodríguez aided the Vermont cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the fourth. For the game, the second baseman went 1 for 2 with a hit by pitch.
"I like winning," Rodríguez told the Vermont Herald. "I may joke around, but when it comes down to it, winning is the most important thing."
