Opening day festivities have begun throughout the league. Fans of the Austin Rangers were eager to watch Kyle Boddy square off against Cordell Wilson of the visiting Richardson City Thundercats. In the end, the Rangers won the game, 5-4, with Kyle Boddy earning player of the game honors. Gavin Blackburn, credited with the win, is now 1-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1 innings.
Yun Yen in the bottom of the tenth had a productive at-bat. With runners on 1st and 3rd and the Rangers leading 5-4, the Austin first baseman hit a double.
"If we play like this, we can win a lot of games," Yen told the Austin Chronicle.
