Seawolves Come Back Late to Clip Ghosts
|
It was a fun time at Ballpark of Remsen, where the Casper Ghosts and Long Island Seawolves tangled.
The Casper Ghosts got a sterling performance from pitcher José Vega, but the Seawolves still prevailed, 4-2. Vega was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He threw 7 innings of 4-hit ball. José González got credit for the win, improving to 1-1. He allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.1 innings. Vinny Mariani earned his 7th save in 9 tries.
Long Island grabbed a 3-2 lead in the bottom of the eighth when Michael van Berkel hit a run-scoring single. For the day, van Berkel went 2 for 4 with 2 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," van Berkel said after the game.
Long Island bumps their record to 44-43 with the win.
