Rails Come Up Short at Springfield
|
Springfield starter Gerald Keller had a strong outing against the Richland Rails at Springfield Stadium. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 3-2 win. Keller, now 4-7, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 7, walking 1, and allowing 2 earned runs. The first-place Shooters now have a win-loss record of 42-28.
Springfield grabbed control in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and a runner on 2nd, Javier Vásquez delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 3-2 in favor of the Shooters.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Vásquez told the Springfield Chronicle.
