Thunder Hawks Fall Short at Long Island
|
The Long Island Seawolves turned back the Ft. Polk South Thunder Hawks, 5-3, at Ballpark of Remsen. Fernando Pineda was named player of the game for his fine performance. He went 1 for 1 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Long Island reliever J.J. Spencer picked up the win to move to 3-0. Jack Ward suffered the loss. Jim Unknown, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 1st save.
The game turned with one out in the bottom of the eighth when Pineda hit a 2-run home run. It propelled the Seawolves into the lead, 5-3.
"It was a good effort all around," said Pineda.
Ft. Polk South has now lost 8 consecutive games.
