Big Day by Rivera Ignites BC Win
|
Both teams had their chances, but the Philadelphia 1776 BC eventually prevailed at The Strip.
The Philadelphia 1776 BC knocked off the Las Vegas Flamingos, 15-3, at The Strip. Fernando Rivera, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason Philadelphia 1776 won. The third baseman went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Carlos Sánchez got the win, improving to 6-7. He pitched 7 innings, giving up 7 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 10 and walking 2.
Also doing his part was center fielder Tony Vega, who stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the second for Philadelphia 1776. For the game, Vega was 2 for 5 with a double. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2.
"Winning is the only thing that really matters," Vega told the Philadelphia 1776 Daily News. "If you can win without even breaking a sweat, more power to you."
The BC saw their win-loss record go to 48-42. At the same time, the Flamingos fall to 40-50.
