Craig Helps 84s Run Win Streak to 4
|
Greenville beat Portland, 4-2. The win in part was due to second baseman Joe Craig, who nabbed player of the game honors. He was 3-3 with 2 home runs, a double, and a walk. The win was credited to Wing-tat Ke in relief. His record improves to 5-0. Bob Weatherall took the loss. The 84s, at 44-29, have now won 4 straight.
The game was at a stalemate until first baseman Roberto Escues came to bat in the top of the eighth. Facing Portland pitcher Bob Weatherall, he hit a 2-2 curveball for a 2-run single. It was a game-changer, putting Greenville on top, 4-2.
"I was able to barrel up some pitches," said Craig.
