Late Rally by BC Secures Win
|
The New Amsterdam Dutchmen got a superb performance from pitcher Bobby Swain, but the BC still won the game, 3-2. Swain was named the player of the game despite the loss. He threw 5 innings of 4-hit ball. Bill Maddox got credit for the win, improving to 3-1. He allowed no runs on no hits in 2.2 innings. Carlos Ramos was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 18 of 21 save opportunities.
Philadelphia 1776 took the lead in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and the bases loaded, Cole Shaffer stroked a run-scoring single to make it 3-2, BC.
"We can always improve and get better, but we're feeling pretty confident after that win," said Shaffer.
The 5th-place Dutchmen have lost 7 consecutive games.
