Lake Monsters Fall to Reserves, 5-4
|
The Athletic Club KC Reserves defeated the Vermont Lake Monsters, 5-4, at Monster Field. Athletic Club KC pinch hitter Fernando Luna was named player of the game for his superb performance. He went 1-1 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Athletic Club KC reliever Richard Allison got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Bayram Tanaoglu was tagged with the loss. Jeff Krause locked down his 1st save.
Luna contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Athletic Club KC in the top of the seventh. With his team trailing 4-3, Luna took a changeup from Bayram Tanaoglu and stroked the home run to right-center. His 1st home run of the season allowed the Reserves to leap in front, 5-4.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Luna told the Athletic Club KC Daily.
The Athletic Club KC Reserves, now 2-1, have played some good baseball in the early going.
