Youth Suffer 5-3 Loss to Blue Sox
|
The Irving Blue Sox picked up a win at Blue Sox Ballpark, knocking off the Phoenix Hotspur Youth, 5-3. On the mound for Irving was left-hander Gilberto Ramírez, who played a pivotal role in the win. The win was credited to Ernesto Cortéz in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Millard Dalton took the loss. Jon Schultz converted his 21st save in 24 tries.
Irving grabbed control in the bottom of the eighth. With one out and a runner on 3rd, Ricardo Ríos delivered a run-scoring single, to make it 4-3 in favor of the Blue Sox.
"I just tried to attack the bottom of the zone," said Ramírez.
The 'W' lifts Irving's record to 41-58.
