Youth Fall to Continentals, 8-1
|
The Chesapeake Continentals went home winners at Chesapeake Grounds, thanks in large part to starter Guldemunde Geilinger. Geilinger silenced the Phoenix Hotspur Youth, enabling Chesapeake to grab the 8-1 win. Geilinger, now 6-5, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 2 hits, while striking out 6, walking 3, and allowing 1 earned run. The Continentals are now 47-49, while the Youth fall to 59-37.
Jouo Hirschovits dealt the Youth a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Chesapeake leading 2-1, Hirschovits, who is tied for 7th in the SAA in total bases with 136, hit a 1-0 slider for a 2-run double.
"Guldemunde was pounding the zone," said Chesapeake manager José Flores.
