Fur Traders Take Nail-Biter Over Loons
|
The Minnesota Loons got a sterling performance from catcher Randolph Descoteaux, but the Fur Traders still prevailed, 6-5. Descoteaux was named the player of the game in a losing cause. He went 2 for 2 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. Tacoma reliever Jeff Pearce picked up the win, upping his record to 6-5. Juan Deliz was saddled with the loss. The third-place Fur Traders are now 46-42, the Loons 45-43.
Gustavo González provided some late-game heroics for Tacoma. In the bottom of the tenth inning, he hit a run-scoring single. It came on a 2-1 sinker from Juan Deliz and propelled Tacoma to a 6-5 lead.
"One win at a time, one game at a time. We try not to get too far ahead of ourselves," González told the Tacoma Chronicle.
