The Casper Ghosts thumped the Myrtle Beach Mermen, 10-0, at The Graveyard. Henry Appleby was a big reason his team got the win. Appleby went 3-3 with a double and 2 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4. Valentín Robles, who went 8.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 6 hits, while walking 1 and striking out 8. His record now stands at 2-0. The Casper Ghosts, now 4-2, have played some good baseball in the early going.
Casper took the lead in the bottom of the third when José Valéncia stroked a 2-run single. That made the score 2-0 in favor of Casper. For the day, Valéncia went 1-4 with a walk, while adding 3 RBI.
"The Ghosts definitely had our number," said Myrtle Beach manager Junior Benítez.
