The Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids eeked out a 3-2 win versus the Toledo Stingers at Atlantica. Nobody did more than pitcher Natalino Golaio, who captured player of the game honors. Ilie Paunescu recorded his 22nd save for Northern Virginia. Northern Virginia is now riding a 3-game win streak.
Golaio's performance can only be described as masterful. He notched 6 strikeouts in 7.2 innings while allowing 2 hits. Golaio, who is tied for 3rd in the SL with a 16 quality starts, goes to 12-6 on the year with 120 strikeouts.
Golaio called the triumph "a good team win."
