John Clips Timber Hawks for Cycle
Wednesday, August 19th, 2026
"How sweet it is, when the good part of the bat makes contact with the baseball." That's how Ray John, the Vermont first baseman, described what happened in today's 13-4 victory over the Augusta Timber Hawks -- hitting for the cycle. In baseball, a player hits for the cycle when he hits a single, a double, a triple and a home run in the same game, though not necessarily in that order. Collecting the hits in that exact order is known as a "natural cycle," something that almost never occurs.

"I heard that sound every time I hit the ball -- it really was a special game for me." It was a game good enough for him to make a little history. He bombed Augusta pitching for 5 hits in 5 at-bats and his name will now go into the record book. John also racked up 3 RBI and 3 runs scored in the game.

Ray John hit a two-run home run off Esteban Marino in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, doubled in the 5th, hit an RBI triple in the 6th and singled in the 8th.

For the year John is batting .250 with 64 hits and 13 home runs. He has scored 44 times and driven in 45.
