Areola Sets New Mark with Strikeout Friday, September 25th, 2026 It was quite a dramatic scene. The Dutch Master Park fans on the edge of their seats, and Raśl Areola on the verge of setting a new league season record. The Chicago Gold Sox ace winds, fires, and gets it -- strikeout number 185! That tops Matt Webber, who was the previous record holder. Talking with the press after the historic game, Areola told them, "Strikeouts are great, the new record is great, but I'll take winning the game over them anytime. Striking out ten batters and losing the game is not what it's all about." This season Areola has compiled a 9-7 record with a 3.46 ERA. |
