The Chicago second baseman had a fantastic 5-for-6 day against the Greenville 84s, leading his club to victory, 8-6. "I was seeing the ball very well and it was going just about anywhere I wanted," Ballard said later." Noel Ballard singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI single in the 5th, flied out in the 6th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
