The Grafton Middies went home winners at Field of the Middies, thanks in large part to starter Wayne Hurst. Hurst silenced the Austin Rangers, enabling Grafton to grab the 3-1 win. Hurst got the win, improving to 6-3. He allowed 7 hits and walked 1 over 6.2 innings. Hurst allowed 1 earned run. Getting the save was Lynwood Matos, his 14th.

In the bottom of the 6th, designated hitter Wes Bradley gave Grafton the lead when he hit a 2-run single. The Middies had been trailing 1-0, but the two-out single off Austin pitcher Juan Valéncia changed that -- and Grafton went on to win.

"Throwing strikes was the main thing," Hurst said.

Grafton has a 3-game win streak, while Austin has lost 3 in a row.
