The Alameda Airmen got a superb performance from pitcher Merlin Bassett. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Walla Walla. The Walleye won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Bassett was named the player of the game. He threw 8 innings of 5-hit ball. The first-place Walleye have a one-game lead in their division.

The Walleye were down to their last out in the bottom of the ninth when center fielder Jing-sheng Joo turned a 1-0 fastball from Bernardo Rosado into a 2-run single. The walk-off single sent a roar through the crowd and gave Walla Walla a thrilling 4-3 win.

"This wasn't a good win," said Joo. "It was a great win."
