River Rats Get 4-2 Win Versus Washington
|
Columbia River Rats starter Chris Plummerton was locked-in. He led his team to a win over the Washington Generals, 4-2. The winning pitcher was Plummerton, now 5-0. He tossed 7 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 7. Martín Noriaga earned the save for Columbia, his 2nd.
A key at-bat in the game came in the bottom of the sixth inning when the River Rats sent teenager Michael Walters to the plate against Generals hurler Baker Mayfield. With the bases loaded and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a first pitch sinker to score 2.
"I still think this team has room for improvement," Plummerton told the Columbia Herald.
With the win, Columbia goes to 24-18, while the Generals fall to 19-23.
