Airmen Rally to Eke Out Win
|
Burm Snart never let the Walla Walla Walleye find their groove. Throughout the game, Snart relied on his bread and butter, his curveball, in pitching the Airmen to a win. Alameda reliever Reynaldo Maestas was the winner. His record is now 5-0. The losing pitcher was Won-min Yi. With the win over Walla Walla, the Airmen improved to 15-17.
Jud Regan found himself in a pressure situation in the top of the 11th. Facing Walla Walla hurler Won-min Yi, the 20-year-old center fielder hit a sacrifice fly. His 8th RBI of the season put the Airmen on top, 2-1.
"It was a test of wills," said Manuel Hernández, the Alameda skipper. "I'm glad we came out of it with a win."
