Allen Leads Cattlemen to Win over Retrievers
|
The exploits of second baseman John Allen, who is tied for 4th in the SL in hits with 18, helped the Ft. Worth Cattlemen defeat the Northern Virginia Retrievers, 10-2. Allen was 4-5 with 2 doubles and 2 singles. He scored 3 runs and drove in 2. Jason Hubbell picked up the save, his 1st. The win moves Ft. Worth to a record of 7-6.
Bart Lewis had a clutch at-bat with one out in the bottom of the sixth for the Cattlemen. Coming up with runners on 2nd and 3rd and Ft. Worth trailing 2-1, he hit a 2-run double.
In postgame comments, Allen told the Ft. Worth Gazette: "Do people still doubt I give 100%?"
