Win Streak Now at 8 for Tula
|
In a low-scoring contest between the Chicago Tula and the Mt. Vernon Bulls, pitcher Jesús López was excellent. The Chicago left-hander was named the player of the game in Chicago's 2-1 win. López was the winning pitcher and moves to 4-1. He threw 6.2 innings of 3-hit ball, while fanning 7 and giving up 4 walks. Joseph Chartier locked down his 12th save.
A key at-bat in the game came in the top of the second inning when the Tula sent teenager Dani Durán to the plate against Bulls hurler Mark Goldwire. With runners on 1st and 3rd and a whole stadium watching, the kid controlled his nerves and delivered huge, hitting a single off a 1-0 fastball to score 1.
"We're stringing together some nice wins," said Chicago manager Nacho Rivero.
Chicago has now reeled off 8 straight wins.
