Chiefs Knock Off Highwood at The Big Teepee
|
The Connetquot Chiefs did just enough to secure a 6-4 victory over the Highwood Hawks at The Big Teepee. Nobody did more than pitcher Alonso Martínez, who captured player of the game honors. Martínez was the winning pitcher and moves to 1-2. He threw 8 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 10 and giving up 1 walk. Earning his 2nd save for Connetquot was Powell Beauregard.
José Orihvela drove in one run for Connetquot. The 21-year old shortstop had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. That's when he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Ralph Haggerty. It was his 1st RBI of the season.
Martínez told a Connetquot Observer reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
Their 46-35 record puts the Chiefs 4th in the Menard's A.
