Herons Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Caterpillars
The Hammond Herons did just enough to sneak past the Grand Forks Caterpillars, 1-0, at The Heron Refuge. Hammond pitcher Kanakanui Lokomaikainani earned player of the game honors. The winner was Hammond reliever Esteban Jiménez, now 3-0. The loser was Jim Unknown. With the win, the Herons have a record of 44-31.

The clutch at-bat came in the bottom of the ninth. That's when Hammond shortstop Éric Leroux, facing Jim Unknown, had a run-scoring walk. It gave the Herons the 1-0 win.

"We didn't score," said losing manager Curtis Lee. "That was the problem."
