Bruins Come Up Short at Hammond
Hammond used a superb performance from starting pitcher Ryunosuke Kurota to down the Bellevue Bruins, 5-1. Kurota was the winning pitcher and moves to 5-0. He threw 5.1 innings of 2-hit ball, while fanning 2 and giving up 4 walks. The save went to José López, his 1st this season.

The Herons got a big at-bat from Rex Scurlock. For the game, Scurlock was 1-4. He drove in 2 runs. In the bottom of the fourth, with runners on 2nd and 3rd, he stroked a 2-run single. His 35th hit of the season gave Hammond a 2-0 lead.

"I had pretty much everything working," said Kurota.

The Herons improve their record to 34-25 with the win over Bellevue.
