Connetquot got a terrific performance from pitcher Jim Davis, but it wasn't enough to beat the Galesburg Guzzlers. Galesburg won the Galesburg Field contest, 4-1. Davis was the player of the game despite being on the losing side. He threw 8 innings of 7-hit ball. Galesburg reliever Sherwood Rivas picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Jim Davis shouldered the loss. The Guzzlers raised their record to 3-5.

Shahid Afridi dealt the Chiefs a blow in the bottom of the third. Batting with the bases empty and Galesburg leading 1-0, Afridi hit a first pitch fastball for a solo home run.

"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Afridi told a Galesburg Herald reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
