Hawks Losing Streak at 5 after Extra-Inning Loss to Pandas
|
In a close game at Hawks Ballpark, the Montana Pandas edged the Chicago Hawks, 5-3. Montana first baseman Chad Armstrong earned the nod as player of the game after he went 3 for 4 with a home run, 2 singles, and 2 walks. He scored 2 times and drove in 3. Montana reliever José Sandoval got the win, raising his record to 2-1. César Galló was tagged with the loss. Kevin Woods was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 10 save opportunities.
The most critical at-bat came in the top of the 12th inning. With no one out, Ray Sears hit a first pitch fastball from César Galló for a run-scoring double. It put Montana in front, 4-3.
"This kind of game is tough on the heart," said winning manager Andrew Schupick.
The first-place Pandas have a one-game lead in their division.
