Fighting Dachsunds Bang Out 8-5 Win Versus Jersey City
|
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachsunds outlasted Dominique Prost and the Jersey City Sun Caps, 8-5. Prost was impressive in the loss. The Jersey City catcher was 2 for 3 with a home run, a walk, and was hit by a pitch. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Sean Evans closed the door for Ellenburg, picking up his 12th save of the year. At 22-20, the Fighting Dachsunds are currently 6th in the Silver AAA.
Francis Kelly took Andrew Hayes deep with one out in the bottom of the fifth. On a 2-1 cutter, Kelly drilled a grand slam home run to left. It was his 3rd home run of the season and put Ellenburg on top, 8-4.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Kelly, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
