Victory Pushes Farmers Record to 9-9
|
In a low-scoring tilt between the Lancaster Farmers and the Phoenix Hotspur Youth, pitcher Enrico Mejía was the difference-maker. The Lancaster right-hander earned player of the game honors in the 3-2 win. Lancaster reliever António Torrez picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Mitchell Atwell was saddled with the loss. Kyle Lucas got credit for the save for Lancaster. It was his 3rd of the year.
The game turned with two out in the top of the seventh when Mejía, who is tied for 4th in the SAA in triples with 1, hit a run-scoring single. It propelled the Farmers into the lead, 3-2.
"They played a better game than we did," said Phoenix Hotspur skipper David Márquez.
With the loss, Phoenix Hotspur sinks to 11-7.
