Big Day by Kiyomizu Sparks Retrievers Win
The Northern Virginia Retrievers powered past the Austin Rangers, 8-4, at Rangers Stadium. Shohei Kiyomizu belted 2 home runs, while scoring 3 times and driving in 3, to lead the charge. Northern Virginia starter Aurelio López was credited with the win after throwing 108 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 11-8. Ilie Paunescu earned the save, his 17th, for the Retrievers.

Northern Virginia took the lead in the top of the sixth. With one out and the bases loaded, Ju-chan Pak stroked a bases-clearing triple to make it 6-3, Retrievers.

"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager David Lenlister said.

The Retrievers go to 55-47, putting them 4th in the Division II.
