Northern Virginia beat Austin at Rangers Stadium, escaping with a 8-2 win. The win in large part was due to shortstop Chris Etheridge, who earned player of the game honors. He went 3 for 5 with 3 singles, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Raúl Gómez was the winning pitcher. Over 6.2 innings, he allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 1 strikeout. The 4th-place Retrievers improved to 54-46.

Enrique Sánchez had a chance to do some damage in the bottom of the seventh. With Austin trailing 8-0, Austin had runners on 1st and 3rd. Sánchez hit a sacrifice fly. But it was not enough. Austin would not finish the comeback.
