Cattlemen Get One-Run Win at Buckhead
|
Benefiting from John Allen's productive game, the Ft. Worth Cattlemen downed the Buckhead Bowties, 5-4. Allen was 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Cattlemen. Jason Horne notched his 21st save in 21 chances. The Cattlemen are now 51-46, while the Bowties fall to 32-65.
Allen came through with some timely hitting for Ft. Worth. With the score 3-2 in the top of the sixth and two down, Allen hit a 1-1 fastball for a 2-run home run. It was his 7th home run of the season -- and a big reason the Cattlemen managed to win.
Allen told the Ft. Worth Gazette: "This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents. Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
