NO-NO! Covas Perfect Against Battle Ground Sunday, June 22nd, 2025 Many times a perfect game happens only in dreams or in backyard baseball games where you're the only player. When it magically happens in real life, like it did on this June day at Battle Ground Stadium, it's a very special occasion. Westwood pitcher Roberto Covas retired all 27 batters today, defeating Battle Ground 5-0 in a once-in-a-lifetime perfect game. He surrendered no hits, walked none, struck out 12 and permitted no one to get on base. Sitting in the clubhouse after the game, speaking to reporters Covas said, "Many times as a kid, I imagined pitching a perfect game, but it was only a fairy tale. I didn't really ever expect to pitch one. It's a special experience and I don't want to demean it, but I've had better stuff than I had today and lost games. It all just fell into place in this game. They hit 'em where we were and we caught 'em." So far this year Covas has compiled a 4-2 record with a 1.72 ERA. View Boxscore View Game Log |
