The Grafton Middies had to overcome a big game from Wizarding left fielder Nathan Tanner to leave Field of the Middies with a 9-8 victory. Tanner was 3-5 with a home run and a double. He drove in 3 runs and scored once. António Marés picked up the win with 8 innings of work. He allowed 7 earned runs on 7 hits, while walking 6 and striking out 7. On the season, he is now 9-7. Lynwood Matos picked up the save for Grafton, his 27th of the year.
A defensive miscue in the bottom of the sixth could have cost the Middies. With Grafton leading 4-3, Pedro Santos reached on an error by the P, driving in 1 run. In the end, Grafton was still able to win the ballgame.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Santos told the Grafton News.
Grafton, at 46-46, sits in 5th place in the Division II.
