Hotspur Jolt Middies with Late Rally

The Phoenix Hotspur picked up a win at Field of the Middies, knocking off the Grafton Middies, 4-2. On the mound for Phoenix was right-hander Pablo De La Torre, who played a pivotal role in the win. De La Torre, now 10-3, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 2 earned runs. Grafton, at 42-43, has lost 5 straight.
Noel Ballard's hit in the top of the ninth was a game-changer. With two out, he rapped a fastball from Lynwood Matos for a 2-run home run. It put Phoenix in front, 4-2.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Phoenix Hotspur manager Michael Esposito.
