Middies Get Win, Extend Streak to 4
|
The Grafton Middies racked up a win at Dutch Master Park, bumping off the New Amsterdam Republics, 5-3. Allen Yohemas, who started for Grafton, pitched effectively for his team. In 6.2 innings, Yohemas surrendered 3 hits, while striking out 5 and walking 6. He allowed 3 runs. Lynwood Matos recorded his 18th save for Grafton.
In the top of the 7th, shortstop Carlos Maldonado gave Grafton the lead when he hit a bases-clearing double. The Middies had been trailing 3-2, but the two-out double off New Amsterdam pitcher Frenk Norman changed that -- and Grafton went on to win.
"We need to keep playing good baseball," Yohemas told the Grafton News.
Grafton has run its win streak to 4 in a row.
